Einstürzende Neubauten – Lament

Einstürzende Neubauten (DE)

Dutch debut

As part of a new cultural programme about the period after the mines were closed in Parkstad, Cultura Nova, PLT, and Nieuwe Nor music venue present an exclusive Dutch show from the German avant-garde performance group Einstürzende Neubauten.

Einstürzende Neubauten embodies the bleak post-industrial Europe of the 1980s. The band translates the decline and pain of Heerlen after the closure of the mines like no other. Accompanied by a string quartet from the South Netherlands Philharmonic, the German pioneers of ‘industrial noise’ – who inspired new generations of artists, from Depeche Mode to Henry Rollins – will perform an integral version of their most recent album Lament. The band, composed of Blixa Bargeld (lead vocals/guitar) and N.U. Unruh (percussion), created this themed album to commemorate the First World War, which ended 100 years ago.

Einstürzende Neubauten has created a masterpiece… a stunning work by the masters of avant-garde industrial noise – Written in Music
